Terms, Conditions, & Warranties

Payment Terms & Scheduling

Your Project Timeline. Clear Expectations.

At MJ Glass & Screens, we believe in transparency from the start. To keep our operations moving smoothly and ensure your materials are secured, we use a structured payment process for all jobs.

The Allocation of Your Pre-Payment

A 50% pre-payment of the total invoice price is required before any work begins. This payment is split into two parts:

  • 10% Non-Refundable Deposit: This covers our upfront administrative costs and secures your official placement on our service schedule.
  • 40% Material Procurement: This portion is applied directly toward ordering the custom materials required for your project.

Please note that materials will not be ordered and work will not be scheduled until this full 50% pre-payment is received in full.

Final Payment & Late Fees

The remaining balance of your invoice is due immediately upon the completion of our work. MJ Glass reserves the right to apply a $150 late payment fee, at our discretion, if the final balance is not settled within seven (7) calendar days of the project’s completion.

Right to Cancel

Flexibility and Fair Policy.

We understand that plans can change, and we want to offer fair terms if you need to reconsider your project after booking.

Our Cancellation Window

Customers may cancel their order within three (3) business days of the initial purchase. Upon cancellation within this three-day window, your 10% administrative deposit will be returned. However, the remaining 40% allocated for material procurement out of the initial 50% pre-payment is non-refundable.

The MJ Glass & Screens Double Guarantee

We offer a "Double Warranty" to give you total peace of mind:

  • Lifetime Manufacturer’s Warranty: Your Timeless Series windows and patio doors are covered by Premium Windows for defects in materials, frames, and insulated glass for as long as you own your home.
  • 1-Year Labor Warranty: MJ Glass & Screens provides a full one-year warranty on our installation workmanship. If an issue arises from the installation itself within the first year, we’ll fix it at no cost to you.

What’s Covered by Premium Windows

  • Vinyl Frames: Guaranteed against peeling, flaking, or blistering.
  • Insulated Glass: Covered against seal failure and internal fogging.
  • Hardware: Smooth operation of locks, rollers, and balances.

Project Expectations & Disclaimers

To ensure a smooth installation process, please take note of the following standard policies:

  • Pre-Existing Conditions: MJ Glass & Screens is not responsible for damage to the building’s structure or drywall that existed prior to our arrival.
  • Manufacturing Timelines: While we strive for perfection, we are not responsible for sourcing or delivery delays caused by manufacturer errors or supply chain issues.
  • Discovery of Damage: If we uncover hidden structural damage or rot during the installation, we will stop work and immediately notify the point of contact to discuss next steps.
  • Exclusions: As per the manufacturer, this warranty does not cover damage caused by "Acts of God" (fire, flood, earthquake), building settling, or post-installation misuse.

Filing a Request

Should you experience a manufacturing defect or an installation issue, simply contact us with your original invoice. We will coordinate with Premium Windows to ensure your claim is handled quickly and professionally.

One-Year Installation & Labor Warranty

Our Commitment to Quality Craftsmanship.

At MJ Glass & Screens, we take pride in the precision of our work. To ensure your complete satisfaction, we provide a comprehensive labor warranty to back up the efforts of our installation team.

The MJ Glass Workmanship Guarantee

We provide a full one-year labor warranty on all installations, effective from the exact date your project is completed. If a service issue arises due to how a product was installed within that first year, we will return to fix the labor at no cost to you.

What’s Covered

  • Workmanship Defects: This warranty covers any defects directly resulting from the installation process performed by our team. If we made an installation mistake, we will make it right.

Exclusions & Limitations

While we stand behind our labor, this warranty is specific to our installation services. It does not cover:

  • Product & Material Issues: Glass breakage, scratches, chips, or cracks occurring after installation; or manufacturer defects involving frames, hardware, seals, or glass units.
  • External Factors: Damage caused by "Acts of God" (fire, flood, extreme weather), building settlement, structural movement, or vibrations.
  • General Wear & Tear: Normal aging of materials, lack of proper maintenance, or damage caused by misuse and negligence.
  • Third-Party Intervention: Damage caused by other contractors, tenants, or homeowners after our work is complete.
  • Pre-Existing Conditions: Any issues related to the original structure or drywall that were not caused by our workmanship.

Warranty Remedy

Our responsibility under this warranty is strictly limited to the correction of defective labor. At our discretion, we will repair or adjust the affected installation. This warranty does not provide for refunds or the cost of new materials unless those materials were damaged directly by our faulty labor.

How to Request Service

To protect your coverage, please submit your claim in writing within one year of the installation date. You must ensure the work area is accessible for our technicians to inspect, as failure to provide reasonable access may void your warranty.

Legal Disclaimers

This labor warranty is the exclusive warranty provided by MJ Glass & Screens. All other express or implied warranties—including those of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose—are disclaimed to the fullest extent permitted by California law. MJ Glass & Screens is not liable for incidental or consequential damages.

Liability Disclaimers & Limitations

Understanding Scope and Material Realities.

To ensure a smooth job from start to finish, we want to establish clear boundaries regarding specialized projects, hidden conditions, and third-party manufacturing.

Manufacturer Defects, Delays, & Variations

MJ Glass & Screens acts as an authorized installer of third-party manufactured goods and materials. We are not liable for any manufacturer defects, material flaws, structural variations, or product failures inherent to the manufacturing process. Additionally, while we always strive to meet estimated timelines, we are not responsible for project delays, backorders, supply chain issues, or shipping mistakes caused directly by the manufacturer or external transit carriers.

Alarm System Disclaimer (Window Replacement)

Please be advised that MJ Glass & Screens is a glazing contractor specializing in the installation of retrofit windows. Our scope of work does not include the removal, reconnection, testing, adjustment, or installation of any security alarm systems, sensors, or related wiring that may be attached to existing windows. If your property is equipped with an alarm system, it is the customer’s sole responsibility to notify and arrange service with their security alarm provider before and/or after installation to ensure proper disconnection and reconnection of any alarm sensors. MJ Glass & Screens is not liable for alarm system functionality, accidental triggers, service interruptions, damage to alarm components, or subsequent repairs or fees resulting from window replacement.

Frameless Showers

Due to the design nature of a frameless shower enclosure, these units are not completely sealed in. Because of this, there is a potential for minor leakage, as they are not completely sealed like a traditional framed shower. MJ Glass will always utilize industry best practices to minimize leakage, but total water retention cannot be guaranteed.

Universal Screen Door Retrofit Limitations

Due to the installation of a universal, prefabricated sliding screen door into a pre-existing, older opening, the door's function is subject to existing structural limitations, such as settling, unevenness, or non-square dimensions. MJ Glass will do its best to measure and adjust the door to ensure it performs at its best. However, we cannot guarantee 100% perfect, flawless operation of the screen door, and minor imperfections in sliding, alignment, or fit may be present as a result of the irregular conditions of the opening. By proceeding with the installation, the customer acknowledges and accepts this limitation and waives any claim related to imperfect operation caused by the pre-existing condition of the opening.

Commercial Exclusions

Clear Boundaries for Commercial Contracting.

For commercial projects, our scope of work is highly specific to ensure fair pricing and precise planning.

Standard Commercial Exclusions

Unless explicitly outlined and written directly into your project proposal, the following items are strictly excluded from our commercial scope of work:

  • Glazing: Any other glazing not specifically listed in the proposal text.
  • Protection & Damage: Protection of materials after installation, or the replacement of materials damaged by other trades or individuals after our installation is complete.
  • Site Conditions: Temporary close-up of openings.
  • Framing: All flashing and framing not explicitly mentioned in the proposal.
  • Electrical: Electronic door hook-ups, wiring, and power connections.

20-Year Insulated Glass Warranty

Quality You Can See Through.

At MJ Glass & Screens, we take pride in the durability of our products. All insulated glass units manufactured by Central Valley Glass & Screen (30 sq. ft. or less, manufactured after May 1, 2009) are backed by a 20-year limited manufacturer’s warranty.

What’s CoveredWe guarantee our sealed units against defects in materials and workmanship. This warranty specifically covers seal failures that result in:

  • Fogging or Moisture: Condensation building up between the glass panes.
  • Debris: Dust or foreign material trapped inside the sealed unit.
  • Obstructed Vision: Any significant impairment to your view caused by a seal defect.

Eligibility

This coverage is designed to protect our residential customers. To remain eligible:

  • Purchaser: You must be the original purchaser.
  • Property: The glass must be installed in your primary residence.
  • Note: This warranty is non-transferable.

Important Limitations & Exclusions

While we stand behind our craftsmanship, we cannot cover damage caused by external factors once the glass is delivered. This warranty does not cover:

  • Physical Damage: Cracks, scratches, or breakage occurring after delivery.
  • Installation Issues: Damage from improper installation, structural settling, or lack of proper "weep" drainage systems.
  • Specialty Environments: Glass used in skylights, greenhouses, saunas, high-vibration areas, or altitudes above 3,000 ft (without breather tubes).
  • Heat & Nature: Proximity to unbaffled heat sources, "Acts of God," or general misuse.
  • Custom Glass: Lead-work, stained glass, or customer-supplied materials.

Our Resolution

If your glass unit is found to be defective under these terms, MJ Glass & Screens will, at our discretion:

  • Repair or replace the defective unit, OR
  • Refund the purchase price if a replacement isn't feasible.

Please note: This warranty covers the glass unit itself. Labor for removal, reinstallation, and other associated costs are not included.

How to File a Claim

If you notice an issue with your glass, please contact us within 30 days of discovery. To process your claim, we will need your original proof of purchase and full access to the glass for a physical inspection.

The Fine Print

  • Terms: All glass is sold “as is” outside of this specific warranty. We are not responsible for incidental or consequential damages.
  • Disputes: We value your business and aim to resolve all issues fairly. Both parties agree that any unresolved warranty disputes will be settled through binding arbitration (JAMS or AAA) prior to any court action.

Acknowledgement Clause

By signing a work order, or approving this estimate/invoice, the customer acknowledges, understands, and accepts all terms, conditions, warranties, and project limitations outlined above.
